Hotel review: NIHI sumba
Most people have never heard of anywhere in Indonesia except for bali! So allow me to introduce you to Bali’s hidden gem Sumba! We took a 1hr flight over from Bali to stay at the world's NO.1 Hotel!!!
NIHI - Nihi is frankly somewhere I had dreamed of staying for a longtime. I have seen so many videos of viral horses running along the beach, and insane private villas. And I can say with confidence that it far exceeded my expectations.
GETTING THERE
The closest airport is Tambolaka Airport Which is only a 50 minute flight from Bali, and from the airport the team picked us up in there very cool open window jeeps!
Villas
We stayed in the beautiful Raja Kanatar II which is a two story 1 bedroom villa, with two bathrooms, living room, and plunge pool.
There are a total of 27 villas on the property with up to 4 bedrooms. All beautifully designed with private pools.
Services, facilities!!
The hotel has all the general services expected Wi-fi, rooms service laundry, spa, private beach, outdoor yoga studio and a restaurant. But even more amazing is each villa is assigned a special host who will make sure you get everything you need on your trip, from spa treatments, to excursions and activities.
Food
On-site there are two restaurants, and two bars. We dined at the main restaurant for breakfast and dinner, and would have lunch at the beach restaurant.
The menu was the perfectly curated mixture of authentic Indonesian dishes and continental options. What I loved most was the abundance of fresh fish! The poke bowl was too die for!
Things to do
Visit the spa
The spa is located either a 3 hour hike or a 15 minute drive away from the main resort. There is no service here so be ready to shut off from the whole world and enjoy amazing treatments. I had a full body scrub and hot stone massage which was incredible, and left my skin feeling amazing!
Yoga
Yoga was available daily at 6am which we loved, the onsite trainer was amazing and had my back cracking non stop!!
Organized experiences
The are an abundance of activities available from swimming with horses, guided hikes, and my personal favorite was visiting a local school that NIHI funds for the afternoon to volunteer.
Relax by the pool!!
The onsite pool is located right next to the bar! So perfect for afternoon drinks, with views of the ocean. Around midday each day you can watch the horses running along the beach from here, which was particularly dreamy.
Overall Impression 10/10
Okay, so I know a 10/10 is an insanely high score! But I literally cannot find a single fault with this hotel! I fell in love the moment I stepped onto the grounds! It was beautiful, peaceful, and the service was impeccable.
